Convenient and reliable access to high-speed internet in Vietnam

I brought my iPhone 7 with me on a trip to Vietnam recently. While waiting in line to clear immigration at the airport I noticed a counter advertizing 4G Sim Cards.

The terms were pretty straightforward, i.e. unlimited data for high speed internet, 10 minutes international calls and 30 minutes local calls, plus a bunch of SMS. Validity was 75 days time which was more than I needed. Price was US$15.

I decided to buy one. The lady popped the nano sim off the plastic card and installed it in my iPhone.

No need to enter PIN. My iPhone quickly finds and connects to the Mobifone network.

Internet Speed with mobifone 4G

Once connected I start receiving a bunch of push notifications for email and other apps. I launched the SpeedTest app to measure the internet speed in the airport.

I was pleased by the speeds, for both upload and download.

Coverage

This 4G SIM card served us well during our trip in Vietnam. We visited a number of places and always had access to the internet, outside or inside buildings. We were also able to access the internet on the trains with this 4G SIM card.

If you need reliable internet with decent speeds I would highly recommend the 4G Sim Card from mobifone.

Final word

Since data allowance on this Sim card was unlimited, I switched on the options to backup photos and videos using mobile data on my Google Photos app. It made sharing from Google Photos app much more convenient 😉
